Bell and Ross Watches
Bell and Ross was founded in 1992, making the company one of the youngest of the “fashionable” watch brands. The company was founded by two French designers; Bruno Belamich and Carlos A.Rosillo, of whom both designed the watches, whilst Sinn, a German watchmaker manufactured them.
The team that made up Bell and Ross consisted of “designers and specialists of aircraft and space controls”, and their main aim was quite simply, to design an array of watches that would cater to their customers, of whom were men in high-impact jobs, that required specialist equipment, such as pilots and divers. The watches therefore, had to be able to sustain the pressures of these professions, whether that was water and/or heat resistance, stopwatches, or measuring devices incorporated into a timepiece.
From start to finish, Bell and Ross watches are designed and manufactured in Switzerland. However, because Bell and Ross watches require instruments that a typical timepiece would not have, they cannot simply rely on watchmakers to provide watches. Instead, Bell and Ross hire a time of experts, with experience in engineering and design, to work alongside the watchmakers, thus pooling together a wide variety of skills and ability that complements each other.
Each watch that Bell and Ross produce is designed especially for the profession that they are creating it for, making each piece unique and adaptable to the individual requirements of each profession. The BR 01 Instrument, for example is designed for pilots, and thus the face is very similar to that of a plane’s cockpit. Due to this fact, the watch maintains a need to be clear, reliable and practical so that pilot’s can use it in a slight glance. The Type Marine watch, on the other hand, is designed for the use of Marines, and therefore needs to be water-resistant up to incredibly deep depths, and must be reliable.
