Ebel Watches

Watchmaker Ebel’s website boasts the slogan: “The Architects of Time” and that could not be closer to the truth when describing the stylish watches that take their inspiration from the worlds greatest pieces of architecture. Moreover, it could easily be said that watches themselves are just as impressive architecturally as any building.

Ebel began creating its little pieces of architecture in 1911, when the company was established in Switzerland by partners Eugene Blum and Alice Levy. The name Ebel derives from the couples initials “Eugene Blum et Levy”. The partnership seemed perfectly matched, as their individual talents and personalities appeared to fit so wonderfully together. Blum drew his talents for technicality and Levy drew her talent for making the appearance of the watches attractive, elegant and fashionable. Women’s watches were deeply feminine and intricate, whilst men’s watches were masculine and adaptable, with not only wristwatches manufactured, but also pocket watches.

Ebel grew into an unrivalled watch making company, which was eventually taken over by their son Charles Blum who encouraged the brand’s “competitive edge”.

As the company moves into the 21st Century as one of the world’s most respected watchmakers, Ebel continues to offer timepieces that pride themselves on their elegance and charm. World famous personalities have been more than happy to associate themselves with the luxurious brand, including super model Gisele Bundchen, and football clubs Arsenal and FC Bayern Munich. Even French footballer Thierry Henry has been spotted wearing an Ebel Hexagon GMT.

The price of Ebel watches vary vastly, between just under £400 all the way up to the sumptuous £8,000. The watches are currently marketed by The Movado Group Inc, who also market leading watch brands such as Concord, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Coutre and Lacoste.
