Oakley Watches
Young watchmakers Oakley were established in 1975 California, by James Jannard. Jannard started out his business with only $300 of investment, and sold the company thirty years later for roughly $2 billion, having created one of the world’s leading providers of designer sunglasses.
The company was named after Jannard’s dog, and initially Jannard designed handgrips for mountain bikes. In addition, it was five years before he designed goggles that would project Jannard and Oakley into overtaking sunglasses giant RayBan as a world leader in eye wear.
In the 21st Century, Oakley now manufacture leading sports sunglasses, prescription eyewear, goggles, electronics, apparel, footwear and accessories and (of course) watches for the sporting industries.
Oakley watches came into existence following the invention of a system known as the O Engine, which consisted of a patented generator capable of creating electricity out of motion. Nowadays, Oakley watches are all Swiss-made to ensure top quality timepieces, which fit into Oakley’s sporting image offer high performance in high demand situations.
Oakley offer eight collections of watches, all offering stylish and purposeful timepieces with prices ranging (generally) between $1,000 and $4,000. Several Oakley timepieces feature Unobtainium straps, which is designed to allow extra grip should the wearer’s wrist become damp due to perspiration. Initially Unobtainium was used by Oakley in their handgrips, but over time, the product has become well used in the nosepieces for the sunglasses. Subsequently it has also become part of Oakley watches straps.
