The Corum Buckingham Wunderkammer truly lives up to its name. "Wunderkammer," (literally "wonder-rooms") means "cabinet of curiosities" and were precursors to museums of different sorts. The term cabinet originally described a room rather than a piece of furniture. Two of the most famously described 17th century cabinets were those of Ole Worm (also known as Olaus Wormius) (1588-1654), and Athanasius Kircher (1602-1680). These 17th-century cabinets were filled with preserved animals, horns, tusks, skeletons, minerals, and other types of objects. Often they would contain a mix of fact and fiction, including apparently mythical creatures. rnrn rnrnThe Corum Buckingham Wunderkammer keeps the spirit of the "cabinet of curiosities" alive with its flip open lid that features a bold raised skull-and-bones in stainless steel. When opened, the dial of the Corum Buckingham Wunderkammer is revealed: a minimalist black dial with the quarter hour markers spelled out in white Gothic text. This unique Corum creation rests comfortably on your wrist with a black leather strap decorated with skull-and-bones steel studs. The face of the Corum Buckingham Wunderkammer is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and the time-keeping mechanism is driven by precision Swiss-quartz movement.rn
