Tissot Watches

Tissot are a Swiss watch manufacturer that has been around since 1853 and today they are a member of the Swatch group. From there humble beginnings in the Swiss town of Le Locle to a worldwide manufacturer of high quality watches Tissot are still an innovator when it comes to watch technology.

Tissot first produced pocket watches in 1853 and by the early part of the twentieth century they were manufacturing a diverse range of watches. In 1916 they released the banana watch. 1930 saw the release of the first antimagnetic watch.

To compete with other manufacturers Tissot released their self winding watch in 1944 with a banking rotor mechanism. In 1930 Tissot merged with the Omega watch making family.

In terms of sports Tissot are an official timekeeper in the following sports; motorcycling, fencing, ice hockey and cycling. The Tissot company were the first to manufacture watches out of plastic.

There have been a number of famous people of the years who have owned a Tissot watch including Singers Elvis Presley and Madonna and actress Sarah Bernhardt.
Tissot have access to over 16,000 outlets across five continents in 150 countries around the world.

In recent years Tissot have included innovative new features to their watches such as T-Touch technology. Several watches have included touch-sensitive sapphire glasses. Such watches include compasses, barometers and thermometers and have been featured in Hollywood films such as Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and Mr and Mrs Smith. Tissot have created a variety of watches over the years including T-Race, Navigator and T-Sport.
