Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation 2006 (WEEE Regulations)
The WEEE regulations are European law and the UK is required to increase the amount of WEEE being treated and recovered in an effort to stop it going into landfill sites.
WEEE can contain hazardous substances. When left in landfill sites the hazardous substances in WEEE can pollute soil and contaminate water supplies. This contamination can damage human health and the environment.
As a distributor who sells new EEE via the internet, we are obligated under Regulation 31 of the WEEE Regulations to offer a take–back of old WEEE items on a like for like basis when a customer buys an equivalent item from us. This is to ensure that WEEE from private households can be returned to us free of charge to dispose of the old item safely by environmentally sound disposal provided that any such WEEE –
(a) is of equivalent type to, and
(b) has fulfilled the same function as, the supplied watch.
The old item has to be returned to us within 28 days of purchasing your new item. We then return the WEEE product to a compliance scheme or local waste carrier to dispose of the old products safely.
If you live locally you can telephone to make an appointment to hand deliver your old WEEE product or telephone our Customer Services team on 01442 818075 to request a prepaid postal pack.
Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed–out wheeled bin symbol shown below:
